Meditation is a formal practice. A deliberate time set aside to train attention, often seated with eyes closed. Mindfulness is a quality of awareness that can be brought to any activity: eating, walking, working, or washing dishes. Meditation is one way to develop mindfulness but not the only way.
You do not need to meditate to be more mindful. Brief pauses throughout the day noticing physical sensations or the quality of your breath build the same neural pathways as formal practice. Many people find this easier to sustain.
