The brain consolidates learning during rest and sleep. Insights and creative solutions often arrive during walks or after sleep, not during intense focused work. The default mode network, active during rest, integrates information in ways focused work cannot.

Rest looks different for different people. Introverts typically restore through quiet solo time, extroverts through social interaction. The question worth asking is what kind of rest actually leaves you feeling restored rather than just distracted.
